The shipping industry is a sector that plays a vital role in the Indonesian economy, and shipping agency companies engaged in shipping activities are responsible for managing and coordinating activities to ensure efficient and effective operations. This study aims to measure the performance of shipping agencies based on ship waiting time and approach time. The research approach uses a quantitative method, namely analyzing descriptive statistical data. The sample in this study was the total number of visits by shipping agency companies over a six-month period, from June to November 2023. Data collection techniques used documentation of waiting time and approach time reports. The results of this study indicate that the Company's Performance measurement in Waiting Time is very good, with an average value lower than the time standard set by the agency company. This analysis was conducted for each six-month period, from June to November 2023. Furthermore, the results of the Company's Performance analysis in Approach Time are good, with an average value lower than most of each period within the six-month Approach Time period. The overtime in September, which exceeded the standard time set by the company's agency by 2.05 hours (two hours and five minutes), was caused by the ebb and flow of the river, forcing ships to wait for the river's water level to return to the jetty, delaying coal loading activities.
Ardi FadillahVivid DekanawatiMahendra Galih PrasajaAde Chandra KusumaHimawan Aditya PratamaBudi Handojo

https://e-journal.akpelni.ac.id/index.php/Gema-Maritim/article/view/515

This research aims to describe in detail the Domestic Containerization Service System operated by PT. Salam Pacific Indonesia Lines, Medan Branch. As an archipelagic nation, Indonesia faces significant distribution challenges, and the domestic containerization system has proven effective in reducing logistics costs, accelerating loading and unloading processes, and supporting inter-island trade flows. PT. Salam Pacific Indonesia Lines (SPIL) is one of the largest container shipping service providers in Indonesia, operating since the 1970s. The research methodology employed is Field Research through direct observation at PT. Salam Pacific Indonesia Lines, Medan Branch, supported by Library Research to obtain theoretical data. The domestic containerization service process at the depot includes a series of stages: the delivery of empty and full containers from the depot to the port, the withdrawal of full containers by the consignee and empty containers by the depot, as well as the service of receiving empty containers from the consignee and releasing empty containers to the shipper. This process is supported by the use of information systems such as CIC (Container Inventory Control) to monitor container movement and the MYSPIL BACKEND application for scheduling management. The main obstacles found in the service are delivery delays, damage, and loss of containers, as well as human resource and communication constraints. Furthermore, there are issues regarding data entry errors of container information into the CIC system, which result in manual verification. Efforts to overcome these obstacles include improving process efficiency, routine maintenance, and human resource training. The study concludes that the service system is already good but requires increased accuracy in data input by employees to avoid service delays.
Fadiyah Hani SabilaFeny Melandary

Maritime vocational education plays a strategic role in preparing competent, professional, and competitive seafarers. However, nautical education management is often oriented toward fulfilling curriculum requirements and certification standards, without viewing cadets as strategic human capital. This study aims to analyze maritime vocational education management from a human capital perspective, particularly in developing the work readiness of Diploma IV Nautical graduates. A qualitative research method with a case study approach was employed at a state maritime polytechnic. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 12 informants consisting of institutional leaders, nautical lecturers, simulator instructors, senior cadets, and alumni working in the shipping industry. Data were enriched through observation of learning processes in classrooms, simulators, and training vessels, as well as analysis of curriculum documentation and academic policies. Data analysis used thematic analysis with NVivo 12 software. The findings indicate that maritime vocational education management focuses primarily on regulatory compliance and STCW certification, while human capital development—such as long-term competence value, critical thinking, and safety culture—has not been optimally integrated. This study recommends strengthening human capital-based education management to sustainably enhance the quality and competitiveness of nautical graduates.
Fitri SupraptiEni Tri WahyuniRenny Hermawati
