Abstract

This research aims to analyze the handling of gauge containers at the Semarang Container Terminal. The type of research used was qualitative, involving ten informants selected using purposive sampling techniques, including Vessel Planner, Yard Planner, TKBM, Container Crane Operator, RTG Operator, Head Truck Operator, Reach Stacker Operator, Tallyman, Ship Foreman and Field Foreman in Semarang Container Terminal. Data was collected using observation, interviews, and documentation methods. The data that has been collected is then analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. Test the validity of the data using triangulation techniques. The research results show that the analysis of out-of-gauge container handling at the Semarang Container Terminal takes into account five aspects, namely the position of the out-of-gauge container on the ship and in the stacking yard, the equipment used, the disturbances that occur, insurance, and Human Resources (TKBM). Overall, handling out-of-gauge containers at the Semarang container terminal is currently not optimal due to the lack of unique expertise in handling this type.
